Acute Rehabilitation Center
Restoring the body, mind and spirit after a serious health episode is one of medicine's greatest challenges. The process of recovering from traumatic injury, illness or disability can be long and challenging. For more than 25 years, the Rehabilitation Center at Euclid Hospital has been providing people the wherewithal to pursue the path to recovery. We provide varying levels of care to patients as they progress seamlessly through the continuum of care including acute inpatient care, subacute care, comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, home care and follow-up care, all within our system of hospitals and post-acute services. We also haven't forgotten that a peaceful, serene location is one of the best medicines we can provide. Patients at the Rehabilitation Center are encouraged to take full advantage of the idyllic lakeshore setting. The majority of rooms are private with a breathtaking view of Lake Erie. In addition, the Rehabilitation Center offers immediate access to acute hospital care and diagnostics 24 hours a day. Should a patient require immediate medical attention, the Rehabilitation Center is directly connected to Euclid Hospital.

Community Re-integration Program
Community reintegration is an important part of the rehabilitation continuum of care. In this unique confidence-building program, you and your therapist plan public excursions designed to increase your mobility and help you adjust to architectural and social barriers such as curbs, ramps and steps, and use public facilities such as restrooms, buses and phones. The rehabilitation staff will assess your needs and design specific exercises, tasks and adaptive equipment in order to improve your ability to care for yourself independently. The Rehabilitation Center also fits prosthetics and orthotic devices.
Unique features
At the Rehabilitation Center at Euclid Hospital, we continually strive to improve our programs to better serve the needs of our patients. Unique features of our program include:Independent living suite - designed to simulate a home-like setting, the suite includes a kitchen, bedroom and bathroom, similar to those found in the average home. A patient and his or her primary care giver spend a day and night in the suite, experiencing conditions similar to those at home. Any questions or problems that arise can be immediately addressed by the nursing staff, before the patient is discharged home. Restoring ability to travel independently - independence is an important part of living. And having the ability to travel in a vehicle is an important part of independence. A car, generously donated to the rehabilitation center and modified by the Ohio Diesel and Technical School, is used to simulate the process of getting into and out of a car so that patients can regain their independence.Evaluating the ability to drive - our driving simulation computer system is used to measure a patient's visual acuity, perception and dexterity - all components necessary to operate a motor vehicle. As a result, we are able to encourage those who are able to learn to drive again; identify those who may need additional assistance before they can drive; and finally, identify those who can no longer drive a vehicle.
